Well I seem to be getting a lot of comments of people wondering whats going on so I had better give and update. Everything is going well I am maintaining between 170 and 175. I have continued my daily logs and food intake. I have been doing the occasional binge/splurge day around every 7-10 days. I am learning how to splurge within reason, my tendency on my splurge days is to go hog-wild and consume food past the point of hunger to more of a psychosis-of-eating, sometimes eating nearly 8,000+ calories in one day. So now rather than starting off with one bad meal and continually bing eating until I pass out I am focusing on eating one bad meal then returning immediately to my normal eating habits the same day.
Workouts are the same I have been experimenting with doing night only cardio and morning only cardio. Since doing cardio 2 times per day 7 days a week for the rest of my life seems a little insane. My results are not what I expected. It appears that night cardio before bed yields more results than morning cardio. This goes against my understanding of weight loss but I have changed a lot of my perceptions about weight loss through this whole ordeal.
Another thing I'm noticing is the longer I stay at a certain weight the easier it is to return. It seems the body starts to get comfortable at a certain weight and tries to return there after any change in diet or routine. So the longer I stay lean it seems the easier it is to stay there. At first my body was jumping up in weight if I even looked at "off diet food" now it seems I can get away with straying off my diet occasionally without the 5 pound weight gain.
Hi there. you've not updated in quite a long time now, so this may be a lost cause, but you have inspired me. i began a new me about a week and a half ago. I want to lose 45 lbs, and no less than 35 by mid february. I have doubted whether it was possible or not, so I searched the internet and I stumbled across your blog. though you began your journey almost a year ago now, we seem very much alike in our goals. Your photos are AMAZING and they really inspire me to keep working my butt off at the gym. I'm only going once a day but 5-6 days a week, and do cardio everyday for atleast a half an hour, on the days I don't weight train I do cardio for a full hour... I lost 2.5 lbs last week even without working out on saturday or sunday and eating over 3000 calories on saturday :(...I think I did quite well!! Anyway, just wanted to let you know you are an inspiration to me, a normal person trying to get gorgeous again:) Thank you for being a normal person who has made that transformation! I now know it can be done w/ out a personal trainer.

I'm curious to know how you are doing today. Also, any thoughts on the vitamins and supplements you chose to take in your Essentials post?

I am doing great, I have converted my workouts and diet to a muscle gaining workout. I will be updating my blog with new pictures and an update in late June. Far as the supplements go, I took mostly what the Metabolic Institute recommended to me when I had my BMR tested and added some additional stuff I knew that helped athletes because of my rigorous workout schedule.

Hi, I looked over your blog and I really liked it. I am 20 and in similar shape as you started, and had a few questions if you don't mind. What did you do to keep motivated and stick to the regiment? That seems to always get me. Also, did you make those Excel templates yourself? I would like to download those if you don't mind. Thanks!

Wow,
Excellent Blog and a great inspriartion. Please keep up the great work and share your results with us! The pics are beyond words. Thank you for keeping this diary of your progress and please keep up the great work. I would love to hear how the conversion from reduction to building muscle has gone! Peace!

I am so inspired by your progress. I know it's personal but would you email me the workouts you did and the supplement amounts you took. Also is the excel in a formula you could send. I love to chart out my progress, it's one of the few ways I can stay motivated. My weight is out of control right now and I would love to enjoy half of your success. I would appreciate any help.

Wow!! Amazing blog and great inspiration. Congratulations on achieving your goal (and going beyond it). I am trying to mimic a lot of what you did to help motivate me. I am very into stats and charting progress so your excel spreadsheets are great. I've be trying to make my own, but am quite new at excel. Is there any way that you could send the excel files to me to help me out? It would be a great jump-start to my program.
Also, how is your weight training going? Any updates would be great. Keep up the good work, and thank you for inspiring me (and other) to lead a healthier life.

Man! you are a true inspiration to me. well, atleast the pictures. :)
I've been trying to lose weight for a couple years now and few months ago i really started going for it and i'm finally seeing changes.
I dig the charts and the logs, I'm similarly minded, they give me a good analysis of how much work and effort is necessary.
How's your diet/exercise going these days? I was wondering if you could do another (or few more) post(s). I'm curious about weight loss vs weight management.
How hard is it? What kind of effort it takes and essentially to help me figure out what is a reasonable, sustainable weight for me.
I also keep reading on how people who undergo weight loss regain the weight in 1-2 years. somewhere around 90-95%. Is this really true?
Hope to see more posts, either way, way to go man. kudos on your success!

I just happened across you blog here. I am so happy that I did. It was very interesting. You said in the beginning that you had been successful at all of your goals and that this one was pretty much the last. Well I am curious to see where you are now and if you have been able to maintain what you worked so hard for?
Best Regards,
Mr. Tower

In a few days, I'm going to be starting my own journey, following in the footsteps you laid out on your blog. I just happened to come across your website; I was completely inspired; all that I've been aspiring to do suddenly precipitated with the thought: "Here's a real guy that did it." I'm at little ahead of the curve with a pretty lean core at 210 lbs; I'm active; and I want to bring myself down to about 170 lbs. I'm a little shorter at 5'8", but for the most part, it looks like I can mimic your regiment to the T. I recreated the Excel sheets, and all I have to do next is go to the grocery store. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I've very interested in your current state, no matter what it is.
Again, congratulations on achieving your goals.

Hi, I found your blog today and you've accomplished a lot. I have been struggling with my weight all of my life. In July 22, 2008 I joined a 24 hr gym(no excuses). Since January 2008 to January 2009 I've lost 24lbs. I was wondering how's It going now? You haven't posted since August 2007 and there is a lot of time missing. Are you maintaining your weight loss? What do you look like now? Hope to hear from you soon. Looking forward to an update. Take care.

Hi There,
I have been training on and off for 25 years, I am 40 now and the off periods have piled inches on around my 'hate handles' I train 7 days a week now (approx 11hrs) with cardio, weights and swimming. However hard I try I cannot lose them. In December I set up my own excel monitoring page, although not as detailed as yours. My weight has come down 5lbs. My body fat has gone up from 32.2 to 33.1% though. This is very depressing. Seeing your blog has given me hope, not just hearing it from an already toned gym instructor who hasn't been there. If you have time to comment on your busy schedule I would be extremely grateful. All the very best!!

Hello,

I just found you today...and You are now my inspiration! (no homo) I have to lose 40lbs and in all honesty I didn't know if I could do it, nothing was really motivating me...but after I saw your before and after pics I am fired up! I've been doing the same thing, watching my calories, running, working out, I wish I could still wrestle tho, it would make things so much more exciting. But I'm proud to see someone do what you did, and I'm not gonna stop now till I reach my goal...Thanks!
Peace \\//

Ya, I kinda think youre amazing too! ;)
This is very inspiring! Being that I have been in the fitness industry for 11 years and having a very clear understanding on what it takes to acheive this kind of success I can appreciate your efforts even more so.
I want to acknowledge you for being extrodinary. Not only for setting a goal and acheiving it but also for being vulnerable enough to share your story, which allows for motivation and inspiration in others to choose to take the steps required to acquire the results they wish for themselves.
So as someone who has been living into spreading education and empowerment around health and fitness, I want to thank you for taking a stand for yourself and your health and in turn truly inspiring others! Very powerful.
Thanks for sharing this!
